My weekend started off on Friday night with a homemade dinner for my dad, for an early Father's Day dinner. He specifically asked for homemade fried chicken, mashed potatos and gravy, and biscuits....can you feel your arteries clogging, yet?! LOL It was, obviously, delicious! As if a greasy buttery dinner weren't enough, we had ice cream sundaes for dessert. I pretty much couldn't move after that! All I could think about was going to bed. HA!
Saturday morning, I had my first appointment with my personal trainer. Now, I've been running and doing cardio for a few weeks; but, weight training...not so much. So, she starts me out on the leg press and then lat pull downs. I'm thinking, "This isn't so bad..." THEN, her boss (a really big guy) tells her to get me off of the machines, because "She can handle it." I look back now, and all I can do is laugh about that statement! SO...she had me do weighted lunges, jumping squats, push ups, tricep dips, and two different ab exercises. When she was showing me the ab exercises, the chick next to the incline bench (where I was supposed to do incline sit ups) was laughing....that was really encouraging! :P Then, when I finished the ab exercises, she takes me over to her desk to set up another appointment and to chit chat about my nutrition plan. I start feeling a little weird, so I get up to go get a drink of water....I end up in the bathroom, throwing up. So much for being "able to handle" something other than the machines! LOL! I went back to her desk, and she was wondering if I had been passed out in the bathroom. Not so much! So, we had a good laugh about it all. On Sunday, I was pretty much walking like an old woman; and it isn't a whole lot better today :) I have my 2nd appointment with her tonight - I'm praying that it's not legs or abs!!! I am excited, though, to get into a routine and get into shape. I don't mind the pain...I know I earned it! :)
Jared was coaching me, yesterday, on what and when I should be eating and when I should be drinking protein shakes. Before he hurt his shoulder, he was really into lifting and bulking up; so, I definitely trust his advice. He told me to eat a small meal, about the size of my opened hand, every 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Although I'm not a huge fan of trying to eat that many times, I'm definitely trying to do it. I've got my peanuts, apple, veggies, and chicken all ready for today. Hopefully, I'll remember to eat it all when I'm supposed to! :)
